Do I need to be an experienced lifter to train at Oxford Powersports?
You do need to book couple of one to ones, so we can ensure your safety the facility. Also we can prepare you for any ongoing programming at the club.
Do I need to be a member of British Weightlifting?
We ask all our members to join British Weightlifting, as our club is affiliated and it covers your insurance for lifting at our gym.
I’m only going to be in the area for a couple of weeks, can I still train at Oxford Powersports?
Yes we are happy to offer a short-term membership and charge this on per session basis.
How much one to one coaching will I get?
We have three coaches at the club, once you go through your initial onboarding session you will be allocated a coach, who will work with you to reach your goals. They will help you decide on the right competitions, coach you on the day (should you decide to compete), and continue to monitor you during training.
Our three coaches have to work with all our members so getting one to one coaching isn’t always likely. But you’ll be monitored alongside all the members.
Do I need any specialist clothing or equipment?
We advise that you purchase a pair of weightlifting shoes – we recommend Adidas shoes. However, we have lots of spares at the clubs and it’s possible we will have your size that you can loan.
In the winter we advise you to wear warm clothing, as it can get cold!
I don’t live near Oxford, how can Oxford Powersports help me to develop and improve my weightlifting?
We help a number of non-members based all over the UK to improve their weightlifting through our programming options. We can also offer one to one session with our head coach. For more information, check out our Programming and Tuition page.
In addition our head coach regularly runs weightlifting seminars and sessions at a number of CrossFit facilities. Please email us directly if you would like more information.
